can't sleep, trawling ebay, silly ideas forming.

Does anyone know if you can get to the indicator lens within the headlight unit of an E39? I have the orange lenses and was thinking of applying a light tint to them with that spray stuff.

Hiya

Pre-facelift headlamp units are relatively easy to open up, and the genuine Hella facelift ones can be opened up but are much harder to do.

As you're asking, I'll assume that you have the pre-facelift orange indicator versions? so yep, those will be relatively easy to lightly tint. If you have the facelift Hella's then you 'might' have some of the orange versions (I had them on my E39) in which case you can get to those although as said, it's harder to acheive. If you have the facelift hella's that are the sought after clear versions, then I'm doubting you want to tint those?!

What colour of tint are you thinking? a light smoke/black? or more of a red?!

Cheers, Dennis!

pre-facelift - its a 99/T 528 touring.

was thinking light smoke tint on the front and sides and just the indicators on the rear.

right then - better get onto ebay for some tint spray

Hiya Mattman

Here's a couple pics of my Touring;

I'm 'thinking' of putting a light tint of Lamin-X on my headlamps so you may possibly do the same once you open up your more easily opening headlamps and do the same, or do something similar over the complete headlamp?

For now, I've been more than happy with the oem clear's, just something I've been thinking of in addition is the same 'light' lamin-X over the rears. I'll probably get a photoshop done first to help evaluate!

Cheers, Dennis!
