Thought 1 series owners might be interested in this article about the mods that Birds have developed...

BMWcar Magazine Birds B1

I am seriously tempted with at least the Quaife LSD for my 130i, and the suspension sounds pretty tasty too!

Thanks for the link makes interesting reading as a 130 owner!

1st change for me is going to be to get rid of the run-flats!

I made the change to 'proper' tyres last month! What with the weather recently, I've not had much of a chance to quantify the improvement in the dry, but there certainly is a marked benefit in the wet.

What sizes and make did you go for for the non runflats?

Mines a facelift so is currently on 215 on the front and 245's on the rear.

Mine is also a facelift (ED) model, but oddly I was on 205 and 225 runflat tyres. Perhaps they used up the narrow wheels (8" rears) for the start of production? Anyhow, I have gone for Continental SportContact2 (N2) in 225/40/18 all round, and the balance feels good (touch less understeer). If you have the 8.5" rear wheels then I guess you might need something wider on the back?
