Blow out, replacement?
Discussion
Had a blowout on a rear tyre of my E36 over Christmas, luckily just as I slowed down from 70 mph to around 30 mph. There was a bang then a terrible vibration but a very busy 3 lane A-road so had to drive 1/4 mile to find somewhere safe to pull over.
Looked like something had got into the edge of the outside tread. Replaced with spare but the damaged tyre is one of a set of 4 brand new Falkens only fitted at the beginning of the summer so only 1000 miles tops.
So my question is even if the hole is repairable is it safe to run a tyre that has had the weight of the car on it for 1/4 mile at around 15 mph whilst completely flat?
