Full throttle at kickdown or beyond?

Just curious as to whether you need to go beyond the kickdown part of your accelerator to get full throttle? My current e91 auto has the notch but can't be sure if there is any difference, anyone got any ideas?

I always presumed it was just a switch at the end of the travel but good question. If the throttle works with ignition on but engine not running you could check visually!

I never use it really, it kicks down for me usually or if I want to overtake or similar I'll put it in Sport. (E39 540)
