Hello all,
I have searched long and hard for an answer to this.. can't find the relevant info anywhere!

Potentially going to buy a 2004/04 BMW 320Ci with 75,000 miles. Car is great, gearbox very crisp, no tapetting, wishbones look OK. The only thing is the clutch judders quite badly and the biting point is more than half way up. Only had a short TD, but I think its on its way out soon.

The price on the car is excellent so I think I'm going to buy it, but just want to know how much changing the clutch will cost if and when it goes.

Can ANYONE tell me if this car would require a DMF clutch kit or just a standard clutch change? As far as my research shows, its just the diesel engines which had the DMF but I may be wrong.

I've been told doing the clutch with DMF will be about £700, whereas on a non-DMF car it won't be more than £400 so its worth picking up a car without the problematic and costly DMF.

Many thanks,
hope answers will help others in future as i literally can't find anything on it!

It does have a DMF but unlike diesels it doesnt lunch itself every 30 seconds and you probably just need a clutch change.

Thanks for the info.
I suppose there won't be any real way of knowing what exactly the problem is until the current clutch is taken off?

Is it sensible to drive the car another 3 or 4 months on the juddering clutch?
