630Ci Cigarette Lighter - Permanently live?

Could someone have a look at their 630Ci please and tell me if the cigarette lighter is still live with the ignition off. Thinking of buying a CTEK charger for my FiL's pampered one and wondering if I need to buy the adaptor or have it wired to the battery. Distant memories suggest that they were live on all my 3-series but haven't driven a BMW for about seven years (Rangie excepted).

live on my e39 and live on the z4, so yours will probably permanently live too.

Unlikely to be live - on my E61 it shuts off as soon as the ignition is off.

(Assuming you mean an E65 and not an E24)
