You don't have to replace the springs at the same time do you?

You don't have to but you do need to unclip them to replace the shoes. The retaining springs that keep the shoes near to the backkplate often get rusted in and need replacing when you do the shoes.

Mmm any decent source for the springs? I can't find anything online for springs only.

BM can be surprisingly cheap on some minor parts. Some of the trim clips on mine were only about 20p!

Eurocarparts sell a fitting kit for shoes with the springs and so forth, this was about £15 if I remember correctly.

I just bought shoes from there but there wasn't anything about the springs.

If they do sell them for your car, they will be under the accessories section in te brakes section.

For my 330i for example...
