Trying to spec an Alpina D3 without the silly priced (£3k!) Lux pack (sat-nav, hard drive).
I want (the wife wants...) front and rear PDC but is it possible without the nav screen?

Our 5er we have at the moment has the screen with f & r PDC but no nav. (screen is standard on that irrespective of nav or not).

Anyone got the full PDC without the screen and if so, is it just an audible system?

Cheers.

You will loose more than £3k come resale if you don't have the lux.
I know as I looked for one long and hard, the Lux cars went in hours, the ones without hung round for weeks and were more than £3k less.

When I spoke to a dealer about this he seemed to think the difference would only be about £1k less without nav after 3 years.

I just find £3k for a sat nav that'll get used probably 10 times in those 3 years very hard to stomach!

I've seen a few pre-reg ones at Sytners without Lux that were only about £1k less.

No way sat nav is worth a £3k premium on the secondhand market.

Our old E90 did not have the screen etc - PDC was just an audible warning system.

I use my Nav quite a lot so would pay for it but if I was only using it 10 times or so in 3 years I wouldn't even consider paying £3k when a £100 TomTom or iPhone App would do the job at least as well - struggle to think you would really get £3k more for a 3 year old car 'cos it had Nav.

(That said I would pay for Bluetooth)

This is what the dealer said.
Come trade in/re-sale time it should be about a grand less than the equivalent car with nav.
