first day to get to know our new car as ive been at work all week. Had 2 new tyres fitted thismorning and geo checked which was perfect so no probs there. About an hour before having them fitted the cd changer decided that it was just gona keep telling me no discs and gave up trying. So i take it to a local specialist about twenty miles away and they think its the laser gone and it may be cheaper to have a new one fitted £200. On the way home from there i have a warning light come up on the dash that according to the manual means 'Engine Deterioration of exhaust emissions control values. Have the problem examined by Bmw Service' anyone know what this means for it?

Hmmmm, no idea what it means mate but if you bought the car from a dealer you can return it under the sales of goods act if you've only had it for a week...

It might well be as simple as the air sensor in the exhaust

First thing that needs to happen is the codes need to be read, unless you want to start changing parts and just hope for the best.

The £500 limit per claim is on an aftermarket warranty covering the car that is different to the warranty that has to be given by the selling Dealer.

The Dealers initial warranty cannot have a cost limitation on it, otherwise they could sell you any rubbish with loads of defects on it and anything over £500 is your tough luck, the law doesn't allow that!.

If the car develops a fault within the dealers warranty period (usually 6 months but it can be 3 months on older cars), then the Dealer has to be given the opportunity to fix the problem at their cost (they are usually given at least 3 opportunities to remedy the fault before you can pursue legal action).

HI there,

I know the garage you went to buy your car a - Enfield, right?

I was looking for a car there over Xmas but they were short staffed and so not particularly helpful. I had been speaking to Steve on the phone who seems OK but when I got there he was away due to Xmas break.

Anyway, my question is - did you get a chance to look at the Blue M5 they have there? How did it look - I saw it in the rain and so didnt get a proper look at it. Would be interested in your feedback

Cheers

PS - did you get them down much on price? How flexible were they?

Cheers

Simon

Yeah thats the same garage. Dealt with Steve also in the purchase of this car and all after care. I had a very quick look at the M5 but obviously i wasn't looking to buy so more of a quick glance over than a full on butchers. Also they haven't got tons of room so was parked quite tight with the rest of the stock.

As for the deal they weren't overly flexible on price despite the fact im normally a hard negotiator but having said that different car altogether. Their knowledge seems to be excellent and they were more than happy to do everything i asked. I.e asked them to HPI it infront of me, also to check on whats was on an advisory for a different car to the one i brought. Had plenty of time to go through paperwork, car and test drive.

The M5 from what i could see seemed fairly tidy inside, the outside was wet but seemed to be in fairly good condition but as i said more of a glance than proper look
