Why are they all pretty much the same price as a new one can be had through Broadspeed?

I'd rather have one of the last E60s with the HDD nav/i drive....

Thanks but we already have an E60. The F10 is a considerably better car in every possible way, and also comes with HDD nav/I Drive.

You'd have to be bonkers to pay the sort of money asked for the last of the E60's.

Probably because there's quite a delay for delivery of a brand new one, people will pay a premium for the car they want today. I think from another thread in GG they're not actually even meeting expected delivery dates at the moment either, so if you want the new model you pay the premium, always the same when demand oustrips supply.

How long is this likely to continue for? I'm having difficulty getting my head around the concept of a new car offering the same value as a used car.

What I don't understand is how the likes of Broadspeed can offer discounts off list price for a car for which there's a waiting list for a build slot, and for which they can sell used models for the same as the discounted new price?

Have you actually made offers on those used cars??

We got from an asking price of £33950 to £31500, this was for a car that listed at £39,000.

Nope, not even seen any in the flesh - purely at the mulling it over with a spreadsheet stage right now. Is 10% off a typical figure to expect from an AUC?

I have to say the F10 is gorgeous inside...reeks of quality even if the exterior is a little bland I'd have one. E60 imho is the opposite, exterior great but interior a little dated now.

The F10 is a simply stunning car. Sadly I'm not looking for me, but I dearly wish I could afford one - a proper replacement for the E39 IMHO.

Agreed - I love it. Although the F10 is "nice" I can't help but feel that it's a bit of a shame that they went down the safe/audi route.

I followed a 51 plate E39 530i Sport in Velvet Blue with 18" M-Parallels this morning, which was following a 60 plate F10 530d MSport in black. The E39 looked much better, and I'm a big F10 fan. Quite surprised when comparing the two.

I'd go so far as to say that that spec of E39 looks better than the M5; the wheels and rear valance are less fussy but the stance is the same.

The E39 is a proper classic - nicely proportioned, roomy but still fairly compact looking.

I love the inside of the F10 but is does have massive overhangs, especially the rear in Touring form.

The marketing men want us to all desire the next new thing and I am often alarmed at how "enthusiasts" go all gooey at stuff that has no reason to be there except "because it's new" - i-drive, many sat navs, bluetooth, etc, etc - it's all a techno overload.

The E39 combined luxury with handling and good engines. The E60 unfortunately went the i-drive route although at least the F10 integrates it better.

Because the potential customer won't find that out until they've paid they're 'fee' to Broadspeed.... who by then won't give a feck as they have their fee.....perhaps scratchchin

Delivery dates for the F10 are about 12 weeks from order, mine came with 12 weeks (picked it up last Friday), you can get 10% off a new one all day long.

The AUC prices are interesting but there will be room to haggle there as well.

Its pretty much the same with a lot of the in demand German cars. You pay extra to get one now and skip the que for a new one.

I take it you didn't see the £40k Golf GTD with options that was for sale on PH the other week laugh

In my experience it really depends on how the car is priced. If its already the cheapest in the country, forget getting much discount, but if its a bit more expensive then you will get a bigger discount.

Because all the dealers are hoping that they get the dream " I want one now and I'm not waiting 12 weeks" customer...believe it or not they do exist. If we all ran car dealerships we would probably all try it on too......

When trying to buy a new car like the F10 first thing I would do is try and find out if there are any new ones coming through that aren't sold? You might find one you like that you can probably get a deal on as the dealer won't want it sitting there. If there aren't any cars coming through it means used cars will be harder to do deals on. If there is only a 12 week wait to get one built I reckon there might well be some unsold cars around.

Personally I would rather wait 12 weeks, get a 10% discount and get the car exactly to my spec wink
