Will be buying a second car in the next few months. For the same price as a nice e46 m3 you can now get a 650i. Very different cars I know. I currently have a 320d which I will be keeping. Mrs mostly uses it for work etc.

What I want to know is what it would be like to drive where I live. I live in a rural area, all A and B roads. The majority of my driving is local. It's narrow, muddy etc. Would the 6 be too much of a big heavy car to enjoy these roads? I know round a track a 650 is comparable to the e46 m3 but I don't live on a track :-) I love my gadgets so the 6 is really tempting but need to know if it's still going to be fun here.

Thanks guys.

M3 all the way for driving enjoyment on B roads. 6 series is a gtand tourer, will take you comfortably on huge journeys.

Completely.

Also, you're at the bottom end of 6's at that money.

I've just swapped out of a 2008 E92 M3 into a 2010 635d Sport Coupe - Although completely different I have to say I'm enjoying the 6 immensely, the way it drives, handles and above all the overall look of it has really grown on me – no regrets so far - absolutely loving it!

It's only been just over a week and I'm continually surprised at how impressed I am with the whole package! I must admit I was really sorry to see the M3 go but the 635d is surpassing all expectations.

M3 would be my choice. I do 700+ miles a week in my 645 and it just eats them up. But a to b driving its OK but not great. I enjoyed my E46 M3 that I owned for that. However I did sell it on quicker then any other car I have owned as I got a bit bored. But that's just my opinion.
