Hi guys,

I've got an E36 Touring with 230k on the clock, in reasonable condition considering the milage and I'm thinking of selling at some point in the future. So far so normal, I imagine it would get 500 quid for it.

The thing is, it had a new engine at 100k (steel liners) and also has Schrick cams and manifold (with a remapped ECU to suit, done by Birds) and genuine 17" Alpinas and bodykit. How much do you think these would add to the value of the car? Cheers!

With 230k on the clock. Nothing. £5-600 is about right.

Really? Seems a little strange, considering the Schrick parts alone would retail for £1500+ new and they arent going to have suffered any wear. Straight sets of Alpina wheels with center caps also seem to sell pretty well on Ebay, seen a few sets go for £250+.

you would be better off stripping it for parts and selling it all off that way

Yeah I suppose thats what I'm getting at. Could make 500 quid for the car, or pull off the easy bits, wheels, lights, engine head, manifold, interior, bodykit etc in a weekend and sell them pretty easy and have the rolling shell picked up on the Monday. Guess its the fate of all old cars really.. shame though, because it flew straight through its MOT last time and all the polybushed suspension and new A-arms etc are going to get wasted. Should be fun though smile

This is the point I should have made. It won't add value to the car. There are loads of cars around with far less milage to choose from so with 230k on the clock you're better off stipping and selling the good bits and scrapping the rest.
