123d unless I could stretch to the 325... Even then it would be close and I would drive both to check I was making the right choice.

You might want to add what you use the car for etc...

...as my only car. Not bothered about fuel consumption/running costs. Have a 123d now, but am considering the roomier, but slower, 320d.

Why the diesel if you're not bothered about consumption? Surely you would have more fun and a better noise from a petrol?

Good point. I need a diesel for tax purposes...otherwise I'm not bothered.

Really? Need??

Personally for a few hundred quit a year I would go petrol... I wish I had done... Although my choice wasn't for tax reasons.

320d, can't be doing with the interior of the 1 Series.

Edit, scratch that, get a 330i, it's £180 a year to tax.

I went looking for an auto 123d M Sport about 9 months ago ... and tried both that and a 320d M Sport auto Coupe ....

I came back with the 320d M Sport Coupe auto. I do not regret it one bit - though the extra power of the 123d would be nice. The 320d seemed roomier and much more upmarket. The coupe makes it that bit different to the other millions of 3 series ... The power is OK and the refinement after a tiring day is great.

The fit and finish on the 320d is superb and I have no complaints at all ... I would not go to a 1 series from the 3 series now.

3 series has much better interior but the 123d is a lot more interesting. Unless you need super economy get a 330i smile

Agree - 4 cylinder diesels are not for a BMW!!!!

Get a nice staright 6 (330 / 335 in diesel or petrol) and away you go.

123d Mnonsense for me.

M trim interiors on the 1er are actually very good and better screwed together than other cars in the BMW range for some reason.

The basic 1 series interiors are terrible in comparison.

Also you may not like the sport seats in the 1 series. Some set them up wrong and end up being sore after a long journey and it's hard to get the seat just right.

Make sure you get the Xenons as they transform the look of the car and the standard lights are a bit poor.

Err its the same dash regardless of the extra bells and whistles. The only difference is between the LCI and non LCI cars.

I know but that's not what I meant. I was comparing the 1 series to other models.

M trim (IMO) sets it off rather nicely and the last few 1ers I have been in have been most certainly better screwed together than both my E89s (don't get me started on the E85) and several of the 3series I had as loaners, whilst my E89 Z4iS interior was being screwed back together or should I say having screws put in that were missing.

The 1 series in M trim, to me are worlds apart in look and feel and cost unfortunatly, but all 1ers seem screwed together really well inside.
