e36 hard top jammed
Discussion
hi
just wondering if anyones had this problem - yesterday I made an attempt to take the hardtop off my e36 convertible. I released the two latches at the back and twisted the handle at the top like i would normally do. Unfortunately for some reason the nearside rear part of the hard top although released was still stuck inside therefore preventing the removal of the hard top. the actual faulty side does raise but when u come to lift it up, its like its caught onto something.
Anyone else have this problem? the hard tops been on since september last year.
thanks

Hi,
That is a very specific E36 problem, I'm not saying you won't get an answer here, but you might have better luck on a more specific BMW forum.
I've just done a quick google and it doesn't look like it is very common, given that E36 convertibles are not common and then you have an added hard top, which is even less common!
Can you get access from the boot to where the hard top locks in place? You may have to remove the side trim, which should just be some pins to pull out.
