I've got my alloys in being refurbished at the moment (Type 66 for thoes interested). Just called the local dealer and was told the Centre caps are £10ish each and the M sport stickers (they call them plaques) which measure about 1cm by 2cm are about £5 each.

Now, alternatively, I can get these:

...and these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-BMW-M-Tec-Badge-Alloy-Whee...

My question is, will I be dissapointed with the quality of the ebay items. Any experiance / guidance appreciated.

Thanks.

I got a set of the alloy centres from eBay. They don't look fantastic but then again they're simply to fill the holes on my track car.

If your car is your PaJ, I'd fork out for the real ones. If not, I doubt anyone apart from you will ever care.

Genuine, and much better value. Obviously not as cheap as some of the other stuff on ebay, but at least it offers an alternative to dealer prices smile

I think the small badges are excellent but the wheel centres corrode very quickly. I have a set of spare small badges somewhere.

I would buy a set of genuine centre caps from eBay but use the dealer for the small badges.

It's hard to describe but those in your link are just not quite right with regards to the sizing of the logo. I'm sure I paid about £3 each when I had my wheels refurbed. Centre caps were £6 each from eBay (genuine ones in dealer packets).

Cheers for the pointers, after all that I think I'm gonna go back to the first plan, bite the bullet and get them rom the dealer. At least that way I know they'll be right, have come back if anything goes wrong with them and pick them up when I need them.

Suspect ebay may be a false economy.

FYI, I received the set from ebay (the one in my 1st post) and they are genuine dealer items.

Don't buy the cheapest centre caps on eBay. I did, and they were slightly too large for my M5 wheels. One of them cracked when trying to fit it in.

Just out of interest, who's doing the refurb? Would you recommend them?
(My alloys are sporting a bit of embarassing kerb-rash)
TIA

I've not got the wheels back yet, so unable to recommend. They're with Spit 'n' Polish through Bracknell Tyre and Battery, £56 each. Reviews seem mixed but Bracknell Tyre and exhaust are doing me a good price for a set of Toyos so it made sense. Watch this space.

Ah, fingers crossed then.
I'll be interested on the results please.

You mention you have Style 66's, are these E39 Sport wheels?

If so, will these 'new style' non dished caps fit 18" E39 M-Para's?

They are the 17 sport wheels and the new style caps fit fine.Should imagine they would also fit 18 M paras.

Couldn't recommend, there are several scabby bits on the wheels. They do have a 12 month warranty though.

Don't know if you've sorted your centre caps out yet, but I'd recommend talking to Cotswold Cheltenham BMW, as they do a minimum 10% discount for internet enquiries.

Thanks for the feedback - sorry to hear that.
I'm considering http://www.lepsons.com/ as others may prove a tad frustrating and, perhaps with time, a false economy.
Downside is they look fairly pricey for the 20"s I'm running at the mo.
Any other recommendations out there?
TIA

I got some wheel badges from 'wheelstrim' on ebay. Theyve been on the car 10 weeks now and still look like new. They get attacked with bilberry wheel cleaner and pressure washer every fortnight too.
the black/carbon ones I got are currently up at £18.99 a set whilst the original blue/white are £12.99.

Really happy with them as they are the entire cap + badge, rather than just a sticker.

I also got some of those little M stickers too. Never put them on the car but again the quality looks good. Got those from ebay user 'pegatinaspt' for £2.99. Bargain! edit - just checked your link and its the same seller.
