As I stupidly destroyed the reluctor ring drilling out the knackered ABS sensor on my E39 paperbag I've got to replace the rear wheel bearing. I've read that it's a pain to separate the hub and the bearing so my plan is to remove them from the car, head into the garage and use my bench and angle grinders to destroy the old housing, split the outer race then carefully grind the inner race from the hub.

Does anyone have any better ideas or tips before I start? smash

1. Use a slide hammer to remove the hub, the inner race will come out with it.
2. Remove the wheel carrier from the car.
3. You will need a hydraulic press to remove the old bearing and press in the new.
4. Remove the inner race from the hub with a gear puller.
4. You will also need the press to push the hub back in to the new bearing.
5. You will need a drive shaft puller to put the whole assembly back on the car.

I live near Cambridge and have all the required tools, let me know if you want some assistance.
