power steering problems

one of my power steering hoses have split, ive managed to get the end off the resivour but i cant for the life of me work out how to get the other end off, it looks similar to a push connection on the plastic pipes diyers use for plumbing. but i cant get it to budge at all, im sure its something simple, i fking hope it is. can someone please tell me how to get it off? will i damage the pump if i use it without fluid in it?
