so the fan does not work but all the electrics do. it packed up a few days ago after working fine for the past years. i thought given that the led on the panel works then the fuse is fine - good job as still could not find the fuse despite getting all the tips from intraweb. thinking it might be the fsu i ordered one today

anyone convince me that its not the fuse and that replacing the fsu will solve the problem?!

could it be the blower motor or fan also?

I had the same symptoms, changing the Hedgehog sorted it.

Also - you might find fuse 76 a bugger to find. it's not in the fuse tray in the glovebox but it's actually right at the back behind the glovebox wall up against the bulkhead to the engine bay. it's a git to get to.

I checked the fuses, change the hedgehog and then had to have a new blower (dash off and £640 quid all in later).

That finally sorted it. The part is n't expensive - it's the labour to get at the bd to replace it.

I had the same problem - it wasn't the hedgehog for me (This normally causes random blower operation not no blower operation). It was the blower motor itself.

No. It's actually up in the footwell at the back of the glovebox - you can't get to it in the glovebox. you have to get into the footwell so you're facing 'up' (it's very awkward) and using a torch you'll see them right at the back (and up). There are two fuses up there. it's just really awkward to get to but once you're in position it's very quick to check them.

Glad it's sorted anyway - just wanted to clear it up for next time.

unlikely. i intentionally sought the exact same one and found the same part no from a 2002 e39 that was being broken

it all works fine for now

BMW refined the hedgehog as things went on (basically the 'pricks' got longer!) so if it does go again buy the latest model.

Keep an eye on it, the same things likely to happen, if it does, your best off getting a new one from a main dealer, from memory they're around £65 ish.
