E60\E61 Centre Trim Replacement Part Question

Just bought a 530d M Sport with the cube interior. I was originally planning on replace it, but to be honest I actually quite like it. However, I feel (and a mate randomly commented the same) that replacing the part below with a plain black plastic part would really help the interior feel, there is just too much of it at the moment. Can anyone advise me if it's possible, had a look on realoem but it's just confused me even more.

Also any advice on how to remove it?
