I like my 135i
Discussion
I've had my 135 for about 3 weeks now and I'm really getting into it, got to get rid of the run flats, but other than that it's all good. It's a lot more understated than my last car quick too. I likde the feeling of the back end really fighting for traction in the first 3 gears. But today I found out another little thing that I like. give it large in second and pull a shift about 5-6K rpm and she'll let out a rather inpressive crack/bang from the exhaust. Excellent!!! I know, a bit childish to enjoy such things, I guess it's the petrolhead in me. I've not had a car that banged and popped on the overrun since my caterham. Sweet.
I can testify to the sheer brilliance of this car (look at my profile).
If you want to wake up that engine and scare the poo out of yourself go and invest in a JB3 piggyback device and plug it into your ECU (presuming you have the twin turbo). I fitted one to my 135 and when turbo-nutter-b
d-mode is activated a press of the loud pedal kicks you in the back like a mule and the car keeps up with some pretty serious machinery.
I know the PH consensus is go get the car remapped by some greasy monkey in his garage, but I argue that the JB3 is better for the car and more advanced than some chav with a laptop. The device has had a lot of development and is adaptive which means it learns about your car as you drive it tuning it as you go. The killer feature for me is the ability to switch between maps so I drive the car standard 95% of the time, something you can't do with a traditional remap.
It has also been into BMW for a service and warranty work and they have never said a thing.
When TNBM is on the power is brutal but the car still very easy to drive. It is really a very impressive engine and when its full potential is unleashed it is between M3 and 911 quick.
Great Q car. Enjoy!

RGambo - I'm going to be px'ing my 135i for a 1M in June, so I'm going to need to put runflats back on. As you're looking for non-runflats, rather than me just selling the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's I have fitted all-round and buying two new run-flats (I already have two, that were only part-worn when I took them off), I was wondering if anyone who currently has the OEM run-flats fitted would simply like to swap? The Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's are awesome, giving better grip and better ride than the run-flats.
Let me know if it's at all of interest and we can talk about it.
Alternatively, (Texasjohn?) I could just sell my 135i rather than p/x it - it's an almost fully loaded (I didn't order sunroof or rear window tints - it has everything else) 2008, 40k miles, manual, Le Mans Blue with cream leather interior, BMW Performance Carbon Fibre interior trim, Evolve 390bhp remap... I guess I should pop a classified ad up, but if anyone might be interested, let me know - would be happy to split the difference between my p/x offer and private sale price of an equivalent vehicle.

Could be interested and would prefer non-RFTs as it happens. Couple of things though I am looking to get a car towards the end of May at the latest and also I am currently undecided in regard to N54, N55 or even a new discounted N55 as I am fortunate to have a family member who works for Bini. Edit: By the way what was the interior trim before you changed it to the CF performance trim, and do you still have that (I am one of these odd people that likes dark grey poplar)?

The standard trim on the 135i was aluminium with accent line. And yes, I so still have it. Well, actually, I have half of what was supplied with the car, and half brand new boxed parts, as BMW managed to scratch a couple when they removed them and I demanded new parts. End of May is fine - I'm looking to p/x the cay by May 24th latest.

That's because as a non-M car with similar power levels to the e46 m3 it struggles to put all that power down with a proper LSD...martin mrt said:
Such a missed opportunity denying the hatch the 35i engine
Not really, as I doubt sales would have been high enough. BMW-GB deleted the 130i two years ago because sales were low, so I doubt a 135 hatch would have been any better...?Also, the coupe shell is substantially stiffer than the hatch shell, so maybe BMW didn't think it was suitable for the 135i engine...?
