Any recommendations for Nav DVD shopping?
Discussion
I'm looking for a 2011 BMW Mk 4 High DVD maps disk (2005 E46 model)
Have bought a couple off eBay and they are the purple backed copied disks and don't work. Had my DVD drive checked and works fine but don't really want to spend the £225.00 BMW want for an official 2011 disk.
Can anyone recommend somewhere they've bought from? I'm so obsessive compulsive I have to have the latest disk!!
Thanks in advance.

I have bought an firmware upgrade version from http://www.bmw-satnav.co.uk/index.php which arrived quickly and worked without problem. But please use a throw-away email address as he will spam you to death with emails offering new discs every other day (or so it seemed in my mind) and wont listen to any unsubscribe requests.
Try these, i bought from here and excellent service too

35 pounds for latest disc with all cameras, 7 digit post code and lots more....

These were the guys I got mine from and they don't work. The update CD worked fine but the maps disk didn't, I emailed them and they did send me another FOC but that didn't work either. http://www.bmw-maps.co.uk/

I don't have any issues with bmw-maps as they did send me a replacement and the service was good but I have read that certain later dvd drives will not read copied (the ones with the purple face) disks.
I got my local dealer to try with an official disk and it works fine.

Hi All,
Sorry to hijack the thread but I pick up my 2003 e39 530i Sport on Friday and it has widescreen nav a phone cradle fitted (but no phone - I think it's for a Nokia of some sort). I know nothing about these systems and am wondering what my options are.
The nav has no disc in it so I'd like to sort something out - the unit in the back says DVD on it, so does that mean it takes a DVD disc for the nav or that it plays DVDs? Either way, what would you buy for it and where would you get it from?
For the phone, what are my options? The cradle seems to 'pop out' but I assume that it is a wired connection and that plugging in the right handset is how it works. Are there options for changing the handset? I have an iPhone and ideally would like that to work properly with the system, but that is probably wishful thinking. I use an IMAP server for my contacts, so any old handset that can read contacts from Google would do the trick.
Finally, are there any inputs on the back of the unit for an MP3 player? I have seen some (expensive) items that offer to connect your iPod etc, but would like to understand my options better before shelling out.
Any help much appreciated!

Can't help you with your questions but if anyone can confirm your nav uses the same map discs as my mk4 high system I'll send you one of the 2011 disks I've got that don't seem to work for me, I'm starting to believe it's my lens rather than faulty disks.Sorry to hijack the thread but I pick up my 2003 e39 530i Sport on Friday and it has widescreen nav a phone cradle fitted (but no phone - I think it's for a Nokia of some sort). The discs from any of the sources mentioned here will work in your nav. You really need the double pack of firmware up-date to V32 and the latest 2011 mapping. The firmware will allow perspective view and speed camera locations.Sorry to hijack the thread but I pick up my 2003 e39 530i Sport on Friday and it has widescreen nav a phone cradle fitted (but no phone - I think it's for a Nokia of some sort). Do not buy the stuff that gives audible alerts for cameras as it's a rubbish system and will send you round the twist in minutes. There are ways round it with Navcoder and resler but you need to know someone who knows what they are talking about. If you switch off the camera audible alerts the unit will then revert to German language so that's no good either.
Regarding the phone a 2003 car could possibly have bluetooth. Check the original factory spec with your dealer and see if it contains BT prep. If so Bobs your uncle and any, sorry, most phones will be connectable. Some will download the address book, some can download text messages. Google Bimmernav for info.
Mp3 connection can be done via a cable bought from BMW and fitted to the back of the nav screen. It usually terminates in the glove box with a female 3.5mm socket. Just plug your mp3 into it and away you go.
The more sophisticated route is via the Intravee 2/Alpine KCA?? which is a box of tricks that will also give you all the track info on your nav screen. Google Toys in your Car for info.
There you go. That's your evening sorted!!!

Hello mate,If they are the same disks pm me your address and I'll pop one in the post.
That is really kind and I will double-check and see if what you have is the right thing. If so, then I may well take you up on that offer if that's OK.
Thanks again and good luck with your system.

Cheers for that, very helpful. I'll avoid the audible alerts stuff though (good call) as that would do my head in after about 10 seconds!
I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers.
