So I have this fairly nice E36 coupe 328i with Evo Suspension and Brakes including that awesome LSD.

Due to the fact my E36 is too new I cannot get reasonable insurance for it. I tried to squeeze it onto a classic car policy. Its a commuter thats morphed into a toy.

I could pick up a E30 coupe (classic status) and transfer the running gear over. However if the dimensions are incorrect and its not a straight forward bolt uo job I doubt I will consider it.

Considering my options..

Pointers appreciated.

I think exhaust manifolds are the main issue for the engine. Bar wiring. I can't imagine it's worth doing on the basis of insurance cost though

The E30 would then become classified as a modified car, the insurance companies would require an engineers report on all the modifications carried out and the insurance would probably end up being more than the cost of insuring a standard E36 328i sport.

Mine didn't need an engineers report, just had to list all the mods (Adrian Flux)

Agree though probably not worth doing for insurance reasons!

Its probably not worth it at all.

I'll either insure it come renewal or find somewhere to store it as a track toy.

Cheers.

I'm thinking about shifting my E30 325i SE on and getting myself into an E36

Fancy a trade? +/- cash

Can you get a 1991 car on Classic ins though?
