Guys,

I bought an E36 318i about 2 months ago. First thing I did when I got it home was give it a once over, Oil and filter change, Air Filter change, new sparks etc.

I have new brake pads sitting next to me right now, waiting for some time off and decent weather so they can go on. I plan to change the brake fluid at this point too.

Just a couple of questions, Firstly, what's the best brake fluid I can put in, the filler cap says Only use DOT 4.0, but could I got to DOT 5.1?

Secondly, once the fluid has been changed, can anyone tell me if there is a way to turn off the Oil/Service lights and the little clock picture that means it's time to change the brake fluid (i guess I'd have to reset the timer?)

Cheers

The basic reset tools won't extinguish the brake fluid. They will only reset the oil and inspection lights.

You'd either need something like a Peake tool or the INPA system via a PC.
