Hi ,
I am getting the self level inactive warning on my dashboard on my E39 touring, I have checked the wiring to the sensors and all looks fine , I have replaces both air suspension units and shock absorbers in the last year so quite sure they are ok. The car does seem to sit lower on the drivers side but only by perhaps 10mm and the measurement is within the limits. The other thing |I have noticed is the suspension is very harsh on the rear , almost like its sitting on the bumpstops although the rideheight is pretty much spot on. Anyone got any ideas?

Happened to me a few hundred miles after getting the rear air suspension units replaced

BMW Master Tech in Bavaria found no mechanical problems, and reset the ride height, which was slightly low, but this did not cure the warning

I did not have a problem with a harsh ride at any time

Warning fixed by my usual independent here in the UK by using a software update, which was described as stopping the warning being raised in error
