Just placed an order for one, but unsure on what options to select.

The spec I ordered is

Sports Spec
Heated Seats
Bluetooth

I want to add

Sat Nav £2500
Xenon £900

For resale value would the above make a lot of difference? Has anyone ordered or taken delivery of the new X3, If so what do you think of the car as a whole?

Nav will, xenons won't but I would want both ideally, however the latest halogen bulbs are pretty good these days, I was in a loan 5 series the other day with them and didn't realise until I tilted the beam down by mistake, and clicked they must be halogens.
Plus they were projector lamps so maybe add lamp wash for £90 and put some HIDs in for £80 at a later date?

For me my essentials would be...

Nav prof.
6NR (smartphone/ipod integration)
At least Business speaker upgrade.
Leather with heated fronts.

Everything else I could live without.

Lots of good responses on the various forums. Most here (mainly American owners):

and some here:

I'd say you made a good choice - having had a scout round the car do you really need Pro-Nav? Business Nav has most of the same functionality and you save a grand.

Nav is good but make sure that you specify the Media Package as this is cheaper than ordering Nav and Bluetooth separately and you also get Voice control and Connected Drive which is a great gadget - you get online weather and news, a direct line to BMW support which you can call if, for example you wanted to find a particular type of restaurant in a town. They look up the options and can send you the address to then use as a destination. You can also link to an iPhone and lock/unlock car remotely if you ever worry you didn't lock it etc. Lots more but suggest you ask your dealer.

When you say Sports, do you mean M Sport as this will have sports seats as standard? I too would add heated leather. Nav good for resale as are Xenons.

Yeah, I'm getting the M sports model and it does come with sports seats etc. I'm going to go for the media package and Xenon as I really like the look of the car with Xenon lights and the Sat Nav looks really good. I intend to keep the car for more than 3yrs.

Colour wise, I'm thinking Grey with Black leather. What do you guys think?

Space Grey is a good colour and black is very practical. X5's look great in Deep Sea Blue with Oyster. It's a classy colour and the oyster leather lifts the interior and IMO make it look more luxurious. Of course, it's prone to marking but at least the carpers etc are black. You may also need to consider changing the silver trim if you went this route. Just a thought but you can't go wrong with Grey/Black

Are you upgrading the wheels? I know it keeps the budget rising and will no doubt affect the ride a bit, but I love the big wheels!

Lovely car, in M Sport trim, it'll be great.

Are you going Auto?

I'm going to keep the 18 inch wheels that comes with the M sports model. I heard the old X5 alloys might would fit with spacers, so that might be another option.

The final spec is going to be

Media spec
heated seats
xenon
maybe business speaker upgrade.

Good choice.

I'd certainly consider the DAB it could be quite a costly retro-fit in a few years.
