Hi guys, have recently purchased a 630 sport and was wondering if anyone had any experience of remapping the 3 litre 258bhp engine. Various places quote pushing the power up to 278-280bhp which is the same power output of the newer 630 from 2008. Will I notice any difference on a n/a engine. Many thanks.

Remapping a na engine will never give huge gains in my experience. In my honest opinion I'd save your cash, or sell the 630 and spend the difference on a 645 or 650. Job done!

630i's use the same box? TBH, whilst my box is no DSG/DCT, it isn't too painful for changes. (There's a reset procedure too which makes a world of difference.)

Oh, and how is comparing a remap of a turbo car to a remap of an NA car fair?

Got any info on the reset procedure?

put key in ignition, turn to position 2 (just enough so it doesnt start) and for you push start guys... put key in, (do not put foot on brake) press "Start" button

Now you should be in ACC mode. Now put your foot on the accelerator, all the way down, past kick down. (you should hear a slight click, when you got past the kickdown)
Now keep your foot their for about 45secs...

Now, let go of the accel, put foot on brake, start vehicle. Put into D and go for a spin.. you will imediately notice the difference!

I looked up this auto gearbox reset procedure and it does make a difference. Shifts are now a lot smoother, no jerkiness and no longer that annoying spilt second delay between pressing the pedal and setting off.

Anyway this is what you do

1. Insert key, don't press brake pedal, press start button. Engine does not start.
2. Press accelerator pedal completely to the floor for 30 seconds.
3. Start engine, go for a spin, enjoy better shifts!

It definitely makes it a lot better. Mine used to hunt a bit at certain speeds and certain amounts of throttle, I think it just didn't get on with the way I was trying to drive it. After doing the above it was much better though. Smoother, more consistent shifts and less hesitation on kick down.
