Hi,

I'm just about to buy the above for a friend and want to know what to look out for? While test driving the car I noticed that on high speed when I brake the steering wheel judders a lot. I believe this could be the front disks (the car has done 56k miles and never has the front disk replaced) I have ordered some disk for the car, but could it be something else?

Also, how do I know if the CV joints needs replacing or the suspension is on the way out?

The car has full service history and I have spoken to the dealer and all seems ok.

If anyone can advise me on what else to check on this vehicle it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The juddering could be ball joints, does it clonk if you go over bumps at low speed? It could easily be the brakes but they usually vibrate at all speeds.
These cars do use bushes too so check them if possible.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. No clonk when going over bump, but I've noticed when going over bad road it seems to be unsettled, very bouncy and not like other X5 I've driven. My old X3 even drove better when I got back into it to drive home after the test drive lol. I've been told it might be the front bushes that needs replacing.
