I may be picking up a 123d tomorrow, it has a great spec other than not having the bi-xenon lights.

Now I haven't driven a BMW without xenons for years (my E36 M3 was pathetic) and if BMW haven't sorted this out, I may want to look at upgrading the lights.

Of course I would love to have the full set up with angel eyes and as close to OEM as possible, but may consider other options.

Does anyone here have any experience of this?

It seems there are replacement units available for 3,5 and 7 series going back years, but I can't find one for the 1 series which is a pain.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have no idea. Which is why I am asking here what can be done.

I was thinking about this, however after reading a thread on another forum about a fellow who stopped his enquiries when the price got to £5,000, I decided not to bother even asking!

It can be done, i was going to do it to my 118d, i bought a genuine new xenon drivers headlight and had sourced a drop in xenon kit from E90 Andy (i found him on a BMW forum)that worked without using the BMW ballasts etc

It was going to cost me around £450-500 but we sold the car when the OH fell pregnant

Still have the drivers side headlight in the shed if your interested?

Any interference with later BMW electrics will usually throw a warning light somewhere. I have yet to see a Xenon kit that doesn't, although to be fair i haven't botered looking in the last year.

If you can source a set of oe lights and fit the corret bulbs via kit form, this will be the cheapest route. A dealer retrofit involves loads of coding new LCM's and a host of other parts. Washers do nothing anyway, and you will still be able to level the lights via the thumbwheel.

Not a fan of fitting kits to halogen lenses as the 2 don't work how they should, and require you to wear a baseball cap and have loud noises emanating from your stereo interspersed by the word 'innit' from your passengers.

One warning, I've had recent bad experience of using that guy E90 ANDY or ANDY TRAN. Paid deposit towards a full kit and he did not supply and stopped all comms to me.
Luckily paid with credit card so had it all refunded to me. Just be careful!
