X5 3.0sd - Anyone uprated the brakes?

Just got off the phone to a friend of mine who has one of these cars which has just been chipped.

He's thinking he may like to look at upgrading the brakes. Before he goes off spending big money on Big Brake Kits etc, has anyone tried the uprated pads/fluid/brake hoses route? If so how have you got on?

Not me. But I'd love to know what he thinks now it's been chipped! I've got one and have thought about it.
