Z4 remote key functions

I have an 04 Z4 which is largely trouble-free. Of late though the remote key functions have been failing. Both keys at once. No problem, I go to http://www.programyourkeys.com/BMW_Z4_Key_Remote_C... and re-set them, everything working fine.

The problem is, the next day they'll not be working again, or maybe even the same day. Sometimes it's ok for a few days, sometimes not, regardless if I use the car.

Grateful for any ideas.

Are you using the car regularly for any long runs. The key charges when in the ignition and if not used can go flat and lose it's settings.

Might be a faulty pair of keys which haven;t been charged long enough to hold properly.

Thanks, I'd suspected that as a possibility. Wasn't used much over winter but lately have been using it regularly, some short runs, some a little over 20 miles, but that's the longest.
