6 series service indicator (idrive)
Discussion
Evening all.
Apologies if this has been posted before, can't search the forums on the mobile site (to my knowledge anyway!).
Have just been to see a 645 for sale and was scrolling through the idrive looking for the service indicators. When I eventually found them, about five of them had yellow warning triangles next to them, though the mileage indication next to each seemed reasonable (oil, yellow triangle, but 14000 miles, for instance).
Can anyone shed any light on what that may mean, or if it is perfectly normal?
Other than that, the car looked pretty good to me, other than a few interior scuffs that I would hope can be repaired.
TIA.

Seems strange that they have the yellow triangles showing. If it had oil that recently then there should be a service bill that corresponds. Apologies if this has been posted before, can't search the forums on the mobile site (to my knowledge anyway!).

I would be wary of one that was showing anything less than a clear service record that has been verified. they are very reliable (in my experience) but I would not like to pick up the tab on one that needed extensive work.

Complete guess but it may well mean that is how many miles the car has done beyond when it should have had that service. I would steer well clear of any 6 that has not kept rigidly to the service regime
I seem to remember that if it's over then the triangle goes red. When you start the car there is also a red car symbol with service written under it.Just pulled out my service book. Looks like yellow is a future advisory and red is something is overdue and then the mileage shown has a minus before it to show how far you have gone beyond the due time. If you highlight the oil symbol and click on i-drive it should give you more info but 14k and a yellow light does not sound right
I would look for another car, but you can phone the BMW £1 a minute hotline that not only gives you spec but will give you details of the full service history which will tell you the last time it saw the BMW network
These are complicated bits of kit, so far better to get one with full BMW SH even if that costs a little more and finding one that has been kept under extended BMW warranty would also mean a car that the owner will have made sure has been kept fully sorted
