So after 10 years of doing my own servicing on an RSV R I just got a quote for a service on the Superduke....4500m one at £240. When I enquired about what I actually got it sounded lots of check this check that and an oil and filter change?
Now I do know my way round a bike and would have no probs doing it inc the check this and that as the service schedule is widely available from KTM

Is it worth it for a stamp in the book for when I sell?? Seems like an expensive stamp !
I guess this where the dealers make the dosh nowadays

Don't ask for the 9k one then. I asked a fortnight ago, £450!

I'll be doing it myself.

I know it's valves at 9k, but there's no way i'm paying the shop £40+vat an hour to put two spark plugs in and change coolant and brake fluid.

If you go on the superduke.net site you can get the proper workshop manual FOC

I plan on printing off the service schedule, and ticking it off and stapling the receipts for the service parts to it and keeping it as service history.

The LC8 filter kit is £20, 4 ltrs is £50, two spark plugs is £5, a bottle of brake fluid is what? £5 and collant is a couple of quid.

so that's well under £100 for all parts, and a day in the garage. No chain or nothing to worry about and plenty of well illustrated guide on t'internet from adventure owners.

Just read the schedule for the 7500km and as you say it's only an oil change and checking operation

I bought my bike 12 months old off a KTM dealer with 5k on the clock , he said it had been serviced then at 9k service indicator comes up on the dash , rung them up and to keep it up to warranty I had to pay for a 9k service really annoying , I've just bought a. The oil and filter to do the annual service myself !

I think it matters to a few people, probably the ones who buy from Dealers

Personally I'd rather buy from an enthusiast and see a list of what's been done, with parts receipts.

I sold my KTM 690 "with full history" as I bought it the same way from a Dealer (because it was cheaper than the Private sellers) when I looked into it, it had only ever had oil changes, not the valve check it should have had - no one even asked about the history, just happy to see 3 stamps in the book.

If you expect to p/x it or sell to a dealer it will make a difference but you’ll still likely be up on balance.

Private sale no difference if you look creditable and have receipts for parts.

The longer you have it the less difference it will make.
