Thames Valley Police
Discussion
Can I invite you to have a look at a website that I have just launched with Thames Valley Police aimed at improving safety with riders. Its all my own work and as a biker I wanted to offer something really differant. There are more pages to load and I have recently written 2 more biker roads with more to come.

Much more like it. We all know that bikes can, and do go fast. We are all grown up here and it's nice to see a site that appears to reflect a genuine concern for safety rather than most of the unbelievable tripe that comes from Brunstromania.
I'm afraid nannying will breed contempt whereas this appears to give a useful insight into unfamiliar roads.
Tightening apexes, hidden exits, warnings where pools of static traffic may lie. This is the sort of stuff that makes for casualty reduction.
The speed limits are mentioned, but not laboured on. We know they are there

Lets hope the policing follows an equally sensible balance.
Hope you don't mind, but I'll pop a mention on SafeSpeed as I think it may provoke some reaction.
Great site - practical help, not the nanny state in action!
I really, really like the road information section. Statistics like "33 bikers died in Thames Valley last year" are a bit abstract: you automatically assume that that happened somewhere else. But saying "30 bikers have been involved in collisions on the A413 between Aylesbury and Buckingham" really brings it home. If I was commuting on that road I would would now be reading and memorising your tips very carefully
The pictures of the dangerous spots are also a very good idea.
If you can ask your colleagues in Cheshire to do the same I'll be a happy biker!

I've just read a bit further on your site and realised what's going on. It's all a spoof.
You had me going for a while, but you finally lost credibility in the "A421 Milton Keynes to Buckingham" section. Do you really think we'll believe that there's actually a place called the 'Bottledump Roundabout'?

Nice site-very informative without being pushy-why couldn't west lothian police have done something like this instead of admitting in the local paper that they are targetting motorcyclists this summer on our country roads, using two camera bikes.(sneaky sods)
I fail to see how two camera bikes covering the whole region are going to reduce accidents-i would have thought more rider/car driver education would reduce accident statistics more effectively.

Brings home the reality of some of the roads, especially the Thame/ Long Crendon road and the Aylesbury/ Buckingham Road- These have both been regular stomping grouds for me over the last 6/7 years on the bike and roads that bring up three figure speeds.
Now I understand why the new road signs up up and why the police bike patrols are more evident.
Good work- extend it further..
