I have had the racing exhaust on the 954 blade for around a year now and in preparation for Brands/ Cadwell track days plus a week in the alps coming up in June/ July, thought it was about time to fit a K&N filter and Power Commander to finally sort out the poor low revs throttle response.
A bit of shopping around brought interesting results - UK prices generally amount to £285.00 for a power commander 3 plus £45 for the filter- Total £330.00.

BUT use the web and a bit further afield I found $279.95 for the power commander and $49.95 for the K&N via the US. Allowing for $35.00 PP to the UK, the total of $364.90 equates to around £215.00. Worth the 10 day wait for it to arrive.!!

I'll let you know how long it actually takes to arrive, however can't wait to fit it and see what difference it makes. The dynojet website has the fuel mapping for my Akrapovic all ready for downloading, and so it should only be a matter of lifing the tank ready to 'plug and play' the new parts.
Before I forget, website for the bits : http://starcycle.com/ (They tell me they regularly ship to the UK)

I'll wait and see about that...depends what they state the value of the purchase as on the documentation as being but even if I have to pay something extra, it'll have saved me some money..

The shop had said they would state the commercial value of the goods as equal to $100- I am assuming this will eliminate the need for a tax application.
Assuming a carrier such as UPS etc make the delivery, how would the import tax get applied?

about a tenner.

edited to say, oops thought you wrote much, not how would. The couriers usually either invoice you or as previously stated sometimes refuse to release the package till you pay up.

It is a lottery however, some do, some don't.

It was UPS that made me pay tax. They would not hand over the goods until I paid on the doorstep.

get the shop to write 'gift' on the box. A bit naughty, but personal gifts are exempt from import duty (tax) in the UK.

The parcel arrived at last from the states- waited 10 days before the post office called me to say they had received my new toy. Pity the shop declared the full value on the packing list so including £8 Royal Mail handling charge, total duty/ VAT = £52.00. Nevertheless both items have now cost me a total of £259 saving around £76 on Uk prices. Worth it in the end.

As for the fitting, no problems once I had read the power commander instructions 5 times- Time spent 1.5 hours max

End result- Fuellings has tidied up a treat, especially on the pick up off the throttle where it used to be a little hesitant with just the can on. Midrange is also stronger.
Overall it has definitely made an improvement even without dyno time..

Mapping software's pretty neat as well so if any one wants to swap fuelling maps for a 954, send them over.
