2004 Fireblade recall
Honda is recalling a number of its 2004 CBR1000RR Fireblades to fix a potential speedo fault.
The fault can make your bike show that it's going 25 per cent slower than it actually is.
Honda claims only a handful of bikes are affected in the UK and owners will receive official notification in the post.
If you want to check your 2004 Blade try riding in second gear at 2000rpm. An accurate speedo will show 18mph. Anything less and your bike needs the glitch sorting. Contact your dealer for details.

Ok only as long as he wasn't exceeding +25% of the speed limit...

I noticed this on my new blade after 250 miles, I realised something wasn't quite right when slowing down for a 50 mph speed camera and the speedo was only reading 37 mph, I knew the bike was actually traveling at more than 37 mph. The strange thing was the odometer was reading correct.

The speedo was changed at 420 miles, the dealer had the bike for 10 days with no loan bike or replacement while they and Honda tried to sort the problem out. To say I was rather pd off after spending £9,000 on a brand new bike is an understatement.

Touch wood nothing else has happened to it

I'd be pi$$ed off if I had paid £9k too!!

The loan bike thing is unacceptable - who did you buy from? Dobles have always sorted me a bike out for stuff that is considered 'their' responsibility (ie not service & stuff).
