None, go to another circuit, any other circuit, viewing at Silverstone is universally pants and the place is soulless beyond belief !!!!

I'd echo that unfortunately.

Le Mans is relatively close smile

Or if you fancy pushing the boat out I'd recommend Mugello, make a holiday out of it smile

Neither are brilliant, although you'll probably be able to see the large TV screen from Woodcote.

See, thats my point exactly, all that money to watch it on a screen ....

You would have a much better experience at Oulton or Donny, or Brands, or any of them really ......

I agree, you put up with only being able to watch a few seconds of action every minute if the atmosphere is fantastic, otherwise you're better off watching on TV.

And there again is the rub, the atmosphere is rarely great at Silverstone .......

It can be good, but it can also be the most miserable and cold place on earth, especially on the race day for Moto GP there last year, which was a complete contrast to the Saturday practice.

It can't really hold a candle to the likes of Mugello or Assen though.

Or Mallory, Oulton, Brands, Cadwell or Donny !!!! Mugello and Assen are fantastic but are more a mini holiday than a weekend at the racing fairly local.

I'd say at Silverstone you'd probably be just as well off with roving seats, plenty of grandstands that you can jump into and you can walk around in between the support races to get a feel for where the best action is.

That aside, have you thought about booking him on to something like this?

www.chriswalkerraceschool.com

That or a day at California Superbike School or the Ron Haslam Race School, then he gets to ride a circuit and get better at the same time. No idea what your budget is, but I seem to remember you asking about a Desmosedici rental, so you must have a little bit to spend.

hanger straight - stowe end

prices are stupid, i used to go for the fri / sat and watch the race on the TV, but it became a stupidly over priced bundled ticket ...

you can see a reasonable amount coming up to and past stowe

Donington is soo much better, better circuit means better racing, more atmosphere and some really good grandstands, he'll love that.

If it's got to be August, I'd say that the BSB round at Cadwell Park at the end of the month (usually the end bank holiday) would be the one. Seeing the bikes leap over the mountain is spectacular, and exclusive to Cadwell!

If not, and the budget allows, how about a daytrip to the TT? No idea whether it's booked up already as a foot passenger though http://www.iomtt.com/TT-2012/2012-TT-Day-Trips.asp...

September would be better. His BDay is 29th! Ive just been looking at Donnington and can team that with a stay in Donington Valley Golf & Spa...I've got to enjoy myself too! wink We have a big holiday coming up before this that is going to skint me out - or maybe I would have pushed the boat out to head further afield. But £300 is about all I can afford!
