Starting from Chamonix, we had a rough plan, 2 weeks and a decision to avoid motorways for the whole trip:

First major stop, Mailau:

Then Chartuese national park en route to Gascony:

Couldn't resist this one:

Then just South of Carcassonne, we had a little issue:

Headed along the coast, but had to detour to take in the Gorges du Verdon:

Before heading South to Sainte Maxime / St Tropez:

And eventually to Monaco:

Which naturally lead us to the N85 (Route Napoleon)

Considering we're 2up & in touring kit, I thought this was a respectable effort:

But unfortunately the fuelling gave up (either relay of tilt switch me thinks?!) with 250km to go:

Home safe & sound:

I love the Zed, but she's not great for long days in the saddle and following our pannier fire we'll be getting something with hard luggage. 1050 Sprint is top of the list for next year's trip...

Thanks podman - perfect riding temp with most days being warm & sunny in the mid-20's and just the odd shower over a 2 week period.

We went last year, end of June, beginning of July and it was 45 degrees some days, even at midnight it was 27, im thinking of going next yesr, end Aug/ start of September, hence the question, mid 20s is a bit more like it.

Hope the bike is an easy fix.

The best thing about touring at this time of year is that even if it's 30 odd in the day, it's in the mid teens overnight so you can always ride in comfort in the mornings & evenings...

Re bike issue: Fingers crossed it's just a faulty tilt switch or fuel pump relay!

Great pics sounds like you had a good time bar the issue with the Zed. I done a similar trip, really enjoyed the N85 and people watching in Monaco, mainly the female type if I'm honest.

Great pics - looks like a superb trip. Shame about the little reliability glitch at the end, but at least if didn't happen at the beginning!

Loads of that looks familiar, great roads in that part of the world smile

I am impressed you managed to take your OH, but only have panniers and a tankbag for all your her stuff!

Unfortuantely its the last time she's going to out up with no luggage and a horrible postage stamp of a seat! As discussed in another thread, i'm thinking about a 1050 Sprint or something similar...

You don't need to pack much if spending 2 weeks around St Tropez, and especially Cape D'Agde smile
