I'm posting this because in the last 5 days, I have nearly had 7 Bikers go under my wheels. I'm not talking about high speed stuff, I'm talking about queing, around town riding.

On Sunday, I was driving down the A82 by Loch lomond Golf Club when the traffic began to Queue. Very long tailback. As always, I was sitting with one eye in the offside mirror LOOKING for bikes, there was one holding station about 3 or 4 cars back, and I could see three running up the white line. What I couldn't see were the 3 coming up the INSIDE of the Queue. As I moved left, I checked my road position in my nearside mirror, and FK ME There was a bike UNDERTAKING me.

Now I don't know what planet this guy was on, or whether he had a death wish or what the hell was going on, but driving up the nearside of a q of traffic (on a single carriadgeway) is bad enough, but coming up along side a Lorry on his BLIND SIDE is downright Idiotic. Not only that, but even after his 2 mates saw me take evasive action, they then proceeded up my inside as well.

The other 4 were today, in and around glasgow. The first at only 7.30 this morning. Now, surprisingly enough, lorries have a HUGE blindspot. Its hard to miss it to be perfectly honest. Most car drivers know this spot better then they know there own cars. Its right behind it. Where did this bike sit? Right behind me. When your near a lorry ALWAYS sit on his offside, not too far, but far enough out so that everytime he looks in his mirror he can see YOU. he know where you are and most importantly WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

The other 3 where in town and were just completely stupid things like overtaking on a tight right hand bend, pulling out in front of me, and drawing along side me to beat me round a right turn.

I don't want to bleat on about something that the majority know and do anyway. But Trucks can do bikers ALOT of harm very quickly, and even before we know you are there. If we work together, make sensible decsisions and respect each others problems on the road we can hopefully keep you as safe as possible.

You're preaching to the converted here. Sadly, motocyclists are exactly the same as the rest of the human race - a flawed species. There are good ones, bad ones, bright ones and idiots. The bad ones and the idiots will always exist and will always find creative ways of smearing themselves over the road surface...
