This may of been done before, but interested in how long people get out of their tyres, particularly if they use there bike for commuting.

I usually get at least 10,000 out of a set of 020 rear and 010 fronts, although they are pretty square by that point!!

My R6 did about 3000 on a rear and 6000 on a front; D207s. Basically two rears to one front.

Aprilia seems to shred then a little quicker. Still not too bad, though. My riding is fast road work, rarely motorways. No track days.

Had Metzler Z4s on the SV - awful, felt like they were made of wax in the wet. Bin them now!

1800 miles on the original MEZ3's on my TL. 4000 miles rear and 6000 front with BT010s.

An now experimenting with a BT020 rear - like the feel and hope for more life; these things are bldy expensive.

3000 miles for the rear on the gixxer thou including 1 track day.
Front looks ok but after the track day at donnington the bike is handling funny turning right. You can see more wear on the right hand side.

120 miles to my last rear on the Exup, picked up a bloody big nail which went through the sidewall on my ride back from having the tyre fitted.

A tad annoying, I generally get 2500-3000 miles from a rear and 6000 plus from a front.

I can't believe the mileage some of you guys are getting ....
The most I've ever had was about 3,000 out of a set of Azaros, more typical is about 1500 for the rear and 2,000 for the front. Usually a 'corsa' compound, but too silly. They can be pushed to about 2,000 and 3,000, but they're REALLY ready for changing then.

and no trackdays... honest !

On my SV race bike I only get 80 miles before the grip level becomes too low to stay at the top.

However, my gixxer 600 tyres are all ex-race tyres and although they won't break any lap records they generally do about 1000 miles before they need to be replaced, but then the rear wheel is only in line with the front wheel for about 50% of my time in the saddle.

On the 1200 Bandit I have been getting about 5,000 miles out of Macadams (front and rear). I have been hearing good things about Roadtecs for a sports/touring tyre so may try those next.
On the GSX750F I managed to get 10,000 out of a rear 020 when used for commuting, or a bit less for having fun around the lanes; and similar from front 010. I also tried Azaros on that bike but only managed about 5,000 from the rear, maybe about 7,000 from the front. That was when I changed to Bridgestones, having listed to a very knowledgeable tyre fitter who was less than impressed with the build quality of Avons.

I have tried Macadams and the wore out even more unevenly than the 020/010 combination.

Does anyone experience the front tyre tread wearing unevenly around the circumference on heavy bikes?

The 010 I have on the front has sloping treads in the middle, not much at all either side and then loads left on the edges(commuting to thank for that though).

The front 010s on the GSX750F (not an especially heavy bike) developed similar wear pattern to that you describe, so they had to be replaced before legal limit was reached. I put the wear pattern down to worn suspension as I hadn't down anything to the forks in 50,000 miles. But maybe they all go like that?

My bike has done it from new so it can't be the suspension, I suspect that the carcass of the tyre ripples and folds in the cut of the tread under heavy braking because they are not constructed strong enough for fast heavy bikes.

I use 020's by choise. I had 010's on the bike and 207gp / rr's ( i think )but didnt really like them.

I love the 020. I have had knee down moments in the Uk and Spain, and i am currently at 6000 miles for the rear ( but at legal limit).

The tyre has dies quickly as i had 2500 miles with fully laden luggage and lots of motorway miles in small time span.

Otherwise the front will last until the next rear goes.

i commute every day, and the tyre is only skittish at very early morning cold wet conditions.

to get 10000 from a tyre on a zzr12, is very impressive.

I'll say, Ive got about half the power yet get about half those miles on a rear, even on Mcadams which are tough as old boots.

I have to admit though that my journey involves 57 miles each way of which 50 miles involves only 1 bend that can be taken easily at 90 (A120 meets M11) followed by a relatively straight journey along the A13 into london, sometimes I only hit the brakes 4 or 5 times hence the extreme mileage on tyres and brake pads that hardly wear.

MZ4's should be banned! spoilt the first 3000 miles of my SV they did. Only when I ditched 'em for 010's did I REALLY start to enjoy the bike.

Hummmmmm........maybe I'm riding too aggresively! I used to get about 5000-6000 with a set of BT45's on my Bandit 600 but the last set of tyres I had did just 3000 on my Buell XB9R. They were a set of Dunlop 207U's. What a rubbish set of tyres!

I'm now on Pirelli Diablos so lets see how long they last. So far I've got about 650miles on them!
