Colour discrepancy on potential bike purchase

I'm looking at a ZX6 G2 in the red and black colour scheme.



A quick reg check shows colour as black. I'd say this should really be listed as red, and registration checks of three other identical bikes from adverts show their colour as red.

Fairings look the right age for the bike so is this anything to worry about?

I suspect that the colour will be at the call of whoever shouts them out when they write the details down.

I bought a ZX6R new in 03 and the frame number was wrong in the logbook, which turned out to be because they had one person calling out the numbers from the bikes and one writing them down to register them when they arrived in the country. One of those two people dropped a ball and ended up with a frame number didn't match the logbook!

I'm sure the registering dealer says what colour it is, and if they see it as mainly black, it'll be put down as black. Personally I wouldn't worry. If it said green or something completely different I would be a bit more concerned.

Have I missed something in the OP or how would you know it's your old bike?! There must be 1000s of that shape ZX6 kicking about!!

I went to look at a gsxr750 in "mint condition" it had a blue and white right hand fairing and a red and black one on the other side.

Turns out Moulder was the previous owner!

Not sure I'll bother with all that fuss of tracing previous owners in future, I'll just offer it to the OP to buy and with his luck he'll have the details in minutes. In fact, he could make a fortune
