Title says it all really! I had a car accident (my fault) 4 years ago but have now managed to find a car insurer who only ask about accidents in the last 3 years. It seems that most bike insurers ask for the last 5 years, and MCE want a 25% increase due to the accident! Does anyone know of any insurers who only ask for the last 3 years worth of history? It's that or wait till October when its off the books completely!

As bike "insurers" are still in the main brokers, then they will tend to ask for 5 years as a matter of course; those underwriters who then only need three years will only be given three years by the broker.

With the exception of MCE who are a bunch of censored IMO most won't levy much of an increase after 3 years. I think I paid an extra £10 a year for years 4 and 5.

You are either young, inexperienced, have a high value bike, or a poor postcode (made worse if the claim was for theft). Not good if you're a multiple of those criteria.

Direct line only ask for 3 which was nice as I am in the same position with a crashes at 4/5 years .

I'm with HR Insure with my bike. They ask for 5 years but my quote didn't change when they added the 2 claims on.

Which is great, but you have to live in Germany for them to insure motorbikes
