Did my cbt at 16 and then passed my car licence at 17, now 20 and not been on a bike since but it appears I have a bike licence?

Licence lists a "AM/A"

Old licence before I got points doesn't mention I have any bike licence?

No, you don't.

You have a provisional bike licence.

No, you don't.

You have a provisional bike licence.
Your CBT will have expired so a new one is the minimum you'll need to get on two wheels.

What he said. Your CBT ran out when you were 19. You can ride a moped (30mph, twist n' go, 50cc) but that's your lot.

Think due to his age / year he got his licence he can't even ride a 50 without a CBT.

Its provisional only. Means you have to do the test(s) to 'activate' it.

You check online what you're entitled to drive/ride here:
https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

But basically as stated above, your licence is only provisonal and your CBT has expired

Mopeds Category AM
You can drive 2-wheeled vehicles with a maximum design speed of over 25km/h (15.5mph) but not more than 45km/h (28mph).

Looks like a mistake as minimum age for unrestricted was 21 when you did your CBT and car test and increased to 24 on 19th Jan 2013.

Don't think just because it says on your licence you have the entitlement that you actually legally do - stand to be corrected.

Don't be surprised if when you next renew your licence the A disappears.

Does the A line on the back of your licence have 79 (tri) next to it?

Mine says a moped is Category P

I like the fact that I can drive pretty well anything up to 7500kg plus a trailer as long as it doesn't exceed 12000kgs. All that from passing one car test and one bike test.

There has to be more than is posted though. That basically says, you can ride a bike up to XYZ power and you can ride a bike over XYZ power. As a paragraph that makes no sense.

Nope I'm afraid that is the full wording provided online!

Description

You can drive a motorcycle of a power exceeding 35kW or with a power to weight ratio exceeding 0.2kW per kg, or A motorcycle of a power not exceeding 35kW with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.2kW per kg and derived from a vehicle of more than double its power. A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW

so I can ride a bike over 35kw and a bike under 35kw that isn't restricted from more than double this.

Well that makes no sense at all and why the capital A in the middle of a sentence?

Rather than set a wording to say you can any motorcycle, they have used a database of predefined statements

My guess

Statement A (A): You can drive a motorcycle of a power exceeding 35kW or with a power to weight ratio exceeding 0.2kW per kg

or

Statement B (A2): A motorcycle of a power not exceeding 35kW with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.2kW per kg and derived from a vehicle of more than double its power. A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW

does seem silly, but we probably payed thousands for someone to create this tosh

For god's sake don't get a bike with 35kW or you're fked!
