Hi guys, I have found a really nice Ducati Monster for sale but it is in N.Ireland. I live in Edinburgh. The bike looks to be near immaculate and is a really good price.

Since NI is in the UK is that ok? A HPI check should be sure the bike is not stolen/Cat D etc? I also should be able to get it transferred into the UK pretty easily as well right?

Is there anything I need to watch out for or an I better off just finding a bike on the mainland? It is a good deal though!

Thanks.

Should be ok, they drive on the left over there too... Just bought a Beemer X3 for our holiday home over there. Very pleasant experience. I think you pay a little more, they're a bit more precious about their kit and overvalue it. But then on the other hand, as you've discovered, they cherish it a bit more.

Yep HPI check is what I did, plus tax check (though I understand tax stays with the seller these days).

I got the X3 checked over by a local guy too, saved me £200 or so off the price-anagrd to negotiate down due to a few small niggles.

Only other thing is probably wanting to re-register to British plates, but that's not hard I don't think.

Fill your boots! (Just check the diagonal steam trap is working ok).

You're right, as NI is in the UK it won't be difficult to transfer this bike into the UK confused

I'm sure a helpful P'header will go and have a look at it for you. I'd offer but I'm probably further away than you smile

Bought and sold several bikes/cars/boats from NI and all fairly painless. Cheap flight from Edinburgh then ride it back. I think adding a flight/ferry crossing puts some people off and therefore I've found sellers to be very accommodating with most happy to collect me from the ferry/airport in order to make a sale.

The only costs you'll incur are flights/ferry and a bit of food.
It's exactly the same as buying elsewhere in the UK

Depends how st your geography is.

He'll probably end up in the Ukraine.
