Doh well I didnt think it was possible or if it was it was for terminal retards but, I have just managed to fail my motorbike theory test.

Scored 100 percent on the first QA section but failed on the hazard perception part where the DSA try to get all hi tech with their computer video clips and justify some of the 25 quid it costs. Damn computer seemed to have a mind of its own accusing me of 'invalide answers' and I even practised sample clips before I went. Curse the DSA and their pixellated horses and u turning cars. Rant over, I am off to drive my car in a manner they would disaprove of, obviously watching out for real hazards.

Can anyone recommend a good cd with clips as close to the real test as posssible. If its not by the DSA then thats a bonus as they already have enough of my money.

Bad luck.... It seems to catch out a few seasoned drivers. They are the ones who see the hazard before you are allowed to click.

Unfortunately, the best CD out there seems to be the DSA theory CD. It only has a few clips but it gives you quite a good idea of when you need to click to get your points.

www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006NSTQ/ref=br_lf_sw_h__6/026-6492395-8716402

Purchase one of these and practice, there really isn't a better way, other than cheating, which you can't do.

Just doing 'some clips' before the test isn't enough, as you've already found out. You need to practice when the computer needs to know the information ie: when to click. So get this and practice. I did and passed first attempt.

Keep going... I failed it three times and was so pissed off! In the end I got a disk from WH Smiths called success or something. It isn't exactly the same but it is a good practice!

The hazard perception test is all bollox but only because of poor implementation. It is a great idea completely bolloxed up by civil servants. They should have subcontracted the whole thing to game designers.

Practicing (which I did) allows you to spot the flaws in the software which is bugger all to do with hazard perception.

I disagree. That would have produced something which is unfairly biased towards computer game players. People like me who hate games would be at an unfair disadvantage. The idea of "press the button when something dodgy happens" is fine.

The trouble with it is that there are several points in each clip at which something potentially dodgy happens but you're not supposed to respond to it. You have to keep off the button until it starts to really take the piss, then keep clicking until you come to a halt. The result is that passing it is more a matter of learning how to give it what it wants rather than learning to spot hazards. All exams are a bit like that, but this one particularly so.

I got very high marks on the hazard perception. I used the first video to see how many times I could press the button without doing too many. It was a LOT. After that I just pressed regularly throughout the whole video and extra every time something new appears on the screen. I pressed for EVERYTHING, trees, shops, whatever you think of. It is obviously pants if it is so easy to "cheat". I'm pretty sure I could pass with my eyes closed.

So, just press press press press press and you will pass.
