This is the only link I could find that mentioned anything about numbers, it says world wide in the thousands. I steer clear of these sorts here in the States as there moto is " three people can keep a secret as long as two of them are dead"

What's a Hell Angle? Is this some closet Pythagoras fear?

I think there are at least 3 acute hells angle clubs adding up to 180 degrees of members

I was reading a report which stated their lifestyle is supported by selling cocaine. It seems they are untouchable at the uppermost echelons. It seems they are one of the largest organisation for distrubuting in the USA. Also they're expanding across the world at record numbers now.

i read Sonny Bargers autobiography and it was quite amusing. he was one of the founding members and tells quite a good story however on occasions the book does degenerate into bravado nonsense and him telling the reader how tough he was/is. this kind of spoils the story and detracts from the profile of the Hells Angels. if you can find it cheap on amazon it is worth reading though.

they are big though, both in terms of numbers and power.

Hunter Thompson's "Hells Angels" book is also well worth a read. Especially the epilogue, officially the best piece of writing, ever.

I wouldn't believe all the hype you read...many of them do really badass things like raising shed-loads of money for childrens charities every year.

I've been to countless Kent Custom Bike Shows and The Bulldog Bash which were always frequented by Angels and never seen any trouble.

Try this:

www.sciencedaily.com/encyclopedia/hells_angels

says 2,000 or so.

That is official members, not hangers-on. Figure on 10 times that for all the other biker gangs- Black, Asian, other white gangs... Being close to Oakland, CA., I see a lot of bikers showing their "colors" (bike club names on their vests) on the highway. Cocaine is not their latest thing, Meth seems to be. Chemicals are relatively easy to steal or buy, the 'cooking' process fairly simple and Bingo, easy cash and quick profits. A friend is a retired Deputy Sheriff, and in his home county -a rural, farming area- 45% of their arrests are drugs or drug-related and 70% of their Environmental budget is Toxic waste clean-up of drug making sites.

on the discovery channel today, the FBI said they were involved in protection racket extorsion an killed other clans who did likewise on their turf! - so what ever happend to the freedom of the american spirit they apparently represent?
they just came across as white trash pretending to be a mafia.

i think now i prefer Benny Hills - 'hills angels'
[remember them]
