Make sure they done the warranty bits to it before you pick it up. Wasn't it the R1 that had somthing wrong with the speedo. There was certainly some niggle with it when it was first launched.

What deal have you been offered?

No mate it was the new Blade and I believe it was my bike that was the first to have the speedo fault, I had the new Blade last April and have had a few other warranty problems as well.....that's why I'm changing to an R1

I'd be interested to hear about your other warranty problems dude.... I've got a very early 04 Blade (1st batch in at Dobles last year) so there's a chance mine may be affected too - just not shown up yet cos I dont do many miles *confess*

Cheers
Anna

P.S. if you search through the past few weeks I seem to recall a thread about the 04/05 Blade/Gix/ZX10/r1'S

The deal I've got is £1,500 to change to an 04 model which is unregistered and will be registered with an 05 plate and cans, either Termis or Akrapovic at quite a discounted price. I was tempted by an 05 model but I wouldn't pay the extra £1,500 for a different paint scheme which is the difference between the two model year bikes. My 2004 Blade has done almost 9,000 miles and I didn't think that this deal was too bad.

Who is the deal you mention above with? Is that on any colour, as the colour I am getting is grey, I am not too keen on the blue or red.

Anna,

I had the problem with the speedo reading 25% slow within 3 days of picking up the bike last April, as I said earlier I think my bike was one of the first to have the problem. I have had the tank cover replaced due to poor paint finish. The tank itself has been replaced as it had a hole in it and I have been asked by Honda if I could have the fuel pump replaced as they want to inspect that to see if there is a problem with it. Admiittedly all the faults have been replaced under warranty but you don't expect these faults with a Honda. That's why the bike is being replaced.

Hopefully the R1 will be a good bike.

Thanks Andy, mine had the speedo recall done last year as it was also an early one but I don't have any issues with the paint or the tank (touch wood).

Friend has had one for a year now and loves it. much more road focussed than the previous incarnation, but still very track orientated.

The underseats give you a proper warm ass in the summer months, and the lights Too good. They are adjusted very high, so gives a very bad "flashing" impression to cars waiting at side roads to pull out.

They are also way to quick, and a real licence loser without realising it.

Personally I think they are no fun, just to easy and effortless to ride fast. Great if you need to be somewhere quick, but little pleasure gained from the actual experience.

A new R1 with Akrapovic cans and that little Y piece replacing the cat will be mine next wednesday afternoon. the cost to change was £2,100 including the Akrapovic bits, I think I had a reasonable deal
