Hi - I have a meeting on Great Malborough street next week and I will very likely be riding over from St Marys Axe. I will need to park for about 2 hours.

I am guessing the motorcycle bays will be rammed full by this time so I am looking at Q-Park which is there. Do the motorcycle bays fill up in here as well? I cannot mess around for an hour parking, but I am not able to book anything online for anything less than a day.

Any help appreciated!

Any help?

Take the tube, or if you want to look out the window, the bus. The tube is always faster than a bike.

This is an option. I am still waiting for scheduled timings but it might be first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening and its on my way past towards home (M4)

I've always found a space. Might need to ride around a few bays.

Personally I'd rather cover my nuts in pedigree chum and dunk them into a piranha infested fish tank than leave my bike unattended in that part of London. Each to their own though.

Sorry, but that's not just not true.
Central Line from Ealing Broadway to Liverpool Street = 45mins.
On the bike = 25-30mins.

It's a bit over 11 miles of which 4 miles is the A40 with a 40mph speed limit and the rest are 30 or 20mph surface streets. With no traffic and all green lights it would take about 20 mins. How do you do it in 25 mins?

Filter and overtake the slower traffic/cars.

Yeah I'd not want to leave anything remotely nice alone in London unattended.

Personally I do think the tube would be quicker.

But as I say, I may be going on the way in or out of London so that may not be feasible.

I want to put it in the Q-Park but cannot find any information about parking a motorbike in there. Have e-mailed them, but no reply at the moment.

It's free to park motorbikes in Qpark.
There have been thefts from Qparks though, so no safer than the street. Maybe.

Hopefully it does not get stolen but it is hardly a desirable bike!

There are a more places than you would think. Some of the carparks are still free for bikes.
Its London so just put a lock on it and park it next to the new shiny one.

I've used the Qpark at the bottom of Harley Street before and there is loads of space for bikes there. The Qpark website should say how many bays there are in each park.

I really really really doubt your bike would get nicked on Great Marlborough St in broad daylight... rolleyes

You'd be surprised but you can find the odd space when on bike. If you get there for 8.30 am I always had a selection of parking spots and many people do still park nice bikes in these bays. Yes they do get stolen.

However if your bike is not sporty or very new I think you'll be ok. I have been so far.

Just bring a lock.

Personally I would look for a bike bay rather then a Q-Park.

Just remember bike parking costs £1 per day in Westminister (gits).

Golden Square tends to be quieter and has several bike bays.
There are IIRC 3 along Great Marlborough, one closer to Regent St, one in the middle and one closer to Berwick St. Think there are some on Poland St too and Duck lane.

Thanks for your responses!

Where can i pay my £1 to park on the road? Is it online?

I park in London at the moment but my office has a nice underground car park so never had to leave it on the road

The solo parking bay signs will have a number you can call to make the payment. It's a bit of a faff the first time you do it as you have to register yourself and enter your bike's reg, payment card details etc. Will take 5-10 min but it is fairly straight forward.
