Hiya

Got my CBT yesterday and now need to start looking at buying a bike - for the time being I just want something to play around with and practice on while I get my skills and confidence up (and of course it can only be a 125). Only problem is, I'm only 1.6m (5'4) and have a small hand span. The bikes that I learned on (Suzuki GN125 and a Yamaha 125 something) were an okay height but I still found it difficult to work the clutch and reach the indicator switch with my thumb without moving my hand.

Can anyone recommend a suitable bike?

www.minimoto.co.uk ?

What about one of those cruiser type ones? I think Yamaha do one. That might be ok on the height front.

You can adjust the levers to bring them closer in to you, don't know if this is on all bikes though :-/

Yamaha SR125 should be your weapon of choice.

My ex had one - and was 1/2" shorter than you!

Ever so easy to get on with too!

I carried on and did Direct Access 5 years ago and then bought a kawasaki GPZ 500s for starters and I'm only 5ft 2in. I then moved on to my Honda Hornet 600FS and decided to have my boots built up about 1/2 inch each which really makes a difference and built up my confidence. Still have to be aware of stopping on bad camber but managed to go round Europe each year for last 2 years covering almost 6000 miles so don't give up just yet. bigger bikes are easier to ride too!

I’m a short-arse myself. I found the ZZR600 ideal for me. Very comfy on a long run and bags of power from the bullet-proof engine.

My wife is 5ft 3 and she rides a Honda RVF400. She tried to get on with a 600 before but did not feel at all comfortable on it. Since getting the RVF 4 or 5 years back she has not regretted it one bit.
