Under heavy acceleration when the front wheel is light(going up the revs and the short break between gear changes when the wheel goes back down briefly) then front end obviously goes light as the wheel lifts which I'm used to on other bikes, but this bike ( yzf1000cc ) tends to head shake/handlebars wobble slightly.Excuse me for being a bit blonde ( I have been on bikes for over 25 years ) but is this what the intended purpose of a steering dampner is for ?,its very disconcerting launching into mach 2 and this happens,I need my old noodles to concentrate on other things

Yes this is what steering dampers are for,my Busa has one fitted as standard and virtually every time the front wheel comes back down to earth it gives a little shake, maybe just a small thing check your tyre pressures too if it does it at other times, easy to forget how much impact tyre pressures can have on handling:-)

A steering damper will only mask problems with your bikes set-up. Get the suspension set up properly before sticking one on.

Couldn't agree more.....if a bike is properly balanced, you shouldn't (in theory), need a damper. It's worth doing a track set-up day and get the experts to help you sort the suspension out. (I wouldn't even try to start doing it myself!)

AS rumple said check the tyre pressure , if the fronts worn it might be worth changing it , 1st thing i did with mine is put it back to factory settings on the suspesion , made the bike feel a lot more planted , mach 2 eh , its bloody scarey how they build up speed isnt it
