Right, here's the deal. Mate of mine has a VFR 750 that is gagging to be ridden, but he simply can't find the time 'cos he's always on his Super Blackbird.
So he rings me up out of the blue and offers to lend me it, on condition I find time to chase him round the countryside (ooer missus!).
Alas it's nearly 10 years since I had bike insurance, so as you can imagine I had to book myself in to have my jaw repaired after it hit the floor. Y'see, I got an on-line quote from Bennetts and they reckoned £856.
FFS, that's more than my last bike cost me!
So, who's good (ie cheap(ish)) for a 41-yo, full bike licence for 15 years, no accidents or claims, 3 points for SP10 a year ago (bastrads), IAM bike test (years ago of course) but no NCD... on a VFR750, not sure of year or value (I guess 1990? and £2500), limited miles etc. etc. etc...

Trouble is, I still look young, so nobody believes me; they think I'm trying to pull a fast one....

Do you have NCD? Only asking cause I've had a few silly quotes recently.
try these and don't give up even if the cheesy hold music drives you nuts!
before you buy ask if they discount for buying on line which they usually do.

www.biketeam.co.uk Cheapest again for me this year by about £300

Cheers guys, I tried wickedquotesinnit, but have yet to hear back from them. Maybe they're still rolling around the floor...
Not desperate at the moment, though it has rather got me back into thinking about an other bike of my own (though me Julie doesn't like them and the Esprit would probably have to go to make space/ keep the peace)....
quite like the 1200 Bandit...

quite like the 1200 Bandit...I was new DAS rider Jan 03. Bought a new DL100 (Ins grp 13?) at tender age of 47 with 0 NCD living in Cambs with High mileage use 30K+. No points on licence. Devitt/Royal sun alliance were best at £370.
Carole Nash have also been excellent third time around with 4 bikes and 2yrsNCD. Certainly worth trying

I did my homework when trying to get bike insurance after a 4 year break - basically I was regarded as a novice again despite finishing with full NCB riding superbikes when I took a TVR break!
Anyway, after MUCH shopping around turns out that Hondas own insurance(08700 780 101) is indeed best for someone in my position - still a lot at £450, but it is a Blackbird...

I hope it is cheap because the RF is not a desirable bike. Perfectly good bike by all accounts, though.
This one wears no clothes and has the front end from a 1200 Bandit (4-pots, the lot). New stainless pipe, tyres, blah blah. I know it has some history (hence the front-end) and it's not mint, hence the TPF&T insurance.
To be fair, whilst it may not be the best bike Suzuki ever did, it's probably still streets ahead of the Katana that I used to ride...
